The Senate tonight voted to approve the original "cuts" budget (with a few minor changes to make it balance): 14 in favor; 9 against; 1 abstention.
A second motion, asking Senate to recommend that the Board also consider the alternative budget that the CFA ad hoc budget solution committee prepared, was defeated.
Responding to this dismal outcome, CFA President Mark Battersby said, "The CFA is deeply disappointed. They have made a decision which will deprive students of the educational diversity for which Capilano is known and respected. We believe that the Senate acted contrary to the University Act in cutting programs without appropriate consultation."
