Your Bargaining Committee will resume negotiations with the University administration starting mid-November. Because both parties were eager to get back to the table, we have scheduled six days of bargaining for the month of November.
At the bargaining table, we are hoping that the University will be able to confirm the rumor that the Post-Secondary Employers Association (PSEA), the bargaining agency for the special purpose universities and colleges, has been given a mandate to bargain 1% plus 1% over two years. Since the recently settled BCGEU and Nurses contracts are much higher and the large research universities seem headed in the 2% plus 2% direction, we will be tabling a proposal that seeks a fair and reasonable wage increase.
There are also rumors that the timeline for bargaining a salary increase is short and may expire before December. Please check your email regularly for bargaining updates or notification of a special general meeting. Information about the progress of our bargaining will also be available at regular CFA meetings and from your department steward. Your continued support for the CFA positions will assist the bargaining committee in achieving the settlement you need and deserve.
