Protest competes with hockey but no game changer

More than 40 faculty members showed their opposition to the University's 2011-2012 section cuts by holding signs or standing respectfully with colleagues while lining the Library hallway near the entrance to Tuesday night's Board of Governors meeting.
Despite the efforts of attendees and Board members who spoke at the meeting on behalf of faculty, the original budget passed with 12 in favour and two faculty reps and two student reps opposed.
The CFA will continue to campaign for budgets that put education ahead of business, and although this year's budget battle was lost, the collective voice was loud and the message clear.
