Capilano University's Board of Governors met on May 14 with a large audience of faculty, staff, students and community supporters. The university's president, Kris Bulcroft, made a recommendation at the beginning of the meeting that the Board postpone the vote on the budget until the next meeting. The delay would give the Senate three weeks to examine alternate options for a balanced budget. Frank Harris, faculty representative on the Board, suggested an amendment to the motion that asks the Senate to consider options that don’t include program or section cuts. Another faculty rep on the Board, Stephen Williams, seconded the motion. The Board approved both the amendment and the motion to delay the budget vote until the Board's next meeting, June 11, 2013.
